 Esther Sylvia Haslam was born July 7, 1920, in Leamington, Ontario, Canada. She was the third of seven children born to Frederick and Frances Brault Haslam. She graduated from St. Francis Elementary School and St. Mary’s Academy and Toronto Normal School in Windsor, Ontario. She also earned a B.A. in Education from the University of Detroit.

Departed this life on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital
in Albany, NY.
Sister Constance had celebrated 70 years of life and 51 years of religious profession. A private prayer service for family, Sisters, and Associates took place on Sunday, March 18 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Chapel, Albany, NY. The wake took place on Sunday, March 18 from 4-7 p.m. at the Academy of the Holy Names, Upper School. Funeral was on Monday, March 19 at 10:30 a.m. at Mater Christi Church, Albany, NY.

Sister Mildred Ann

February 6, 1933March 9, 2012 (Jersey City, NJ)

The oldest of the four daughters of Marion and Mildred Rogers Zarnowski, Teresa Ann was born February 6, 1933, in Newton, Kansas. Her family moved to Lake Oswego, Oregon, during the Second World War and the children attended Sacred Heart School (now Our Lady of the Lake) where Teresa Ann first became acquainted with the Holy Names sisters. Her father died when she was a sophomore at St. Mary’s Academy, but her brave mother allowed Teresa Ann to enter the Holy Names novitiate right after graduation. She received the name Sister Mildred Ann, made first vows in 1953, and went out to teach music in the Portland Archdiocesan schools, receiving a Bachelors of Music degree along the way from Marylhurst College.

Sister George Francis Riseling, SNJM

December 31, 1925–March 3, 2012 (Naples, FL)

Departed this life on Saturday, March 3, 2012 in Naples, Florida. Sr.George Francis had celebrated 86 years of life and 64 years of religious profession. The visitation for Sr. George was at St. Anne's in Naples, FL, on March 15 with the Funeral Liturgy following. Interment isat Myrtle Hill/Garden of Memories in Tampa, FL. Memorial Mass took place at the Academy of the Holy Names Chapel on March 17.

Departed this life on February 14, 2012, at Convent of the Holy Names in Spokane, Washington. Sister Susan had celebrated 80 years of life and 61 years of religious profession. Funeral Liturgy took place on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the Convent of the Holy Names, Spokane. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Sister Miriam Angela

March 25, 1917–February 2, 2012 (Marylhurst, OR)

Sister Virginia Ginet (Sr. Miriam Angela), age 94, died at the Marie-Rose Center at Mary’s Woods in Lake Oswego on February 2, 2012. She was a vowed member of the Sisters of the Holy Names for 74 years. The Mass of Christian Burial was held on February 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Provincial House Chapel.
