A Day to Celebrate SNJM Ministries Around the World
SNJM ministries outside of the contiguous United States were the focus of Fall History Day at the Holy Names Heritage Center in Marylhurst on Nov. 18. An audience of Sisters, Associates, staff and friends enjoyed an exhibit, stories and a panel discussion about the remarkable achievements and adventures of Sisters who have ministered in Japan, Haiti, Peru, Alaska and Vietnam.
Attendees were also treated to a luncheon with dishes representing the culinary traditions in those far-flung locations. In keeping with the Heritage Center’s support for the SNJM commitment to working with the poor and marginalized, one of the vendors chosen for the luncheon was Mathilde Aurelien Wilson, whose Haitian food cart in Portland helps raise funds to pay for running water, electricity, education and infrastructure in her home village.
