Patricia (Patti) Doyle, SNJM
A third generation San Franciscan, Sr. Patti is the fourth child in the Irish Catholic Doyle clan of seven children. Educated by SNJM’s in elementary school, Sr. Patti credits her vocation to her strong Catholic family life as well as to the joyful and loving service of the sisters that she witnessed growing up, and especially the example of her own sister Joan’s entry in to the SNJM community.
She received her BA from Holy Names University and MA from Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena; during these years she taught primary grades for ten years. The congregation quickly realized that she had extraordinary gifts in school administration; she served as principal for a number of Holy Names schools throughout northern and southern California, and teachers and parents, as well as students, thrived under her leadership. She inspired creativity and caring and nurturing for each individual child in the schools she led. She was chosen Elementary Education Coordinator for the California Province, a position Patti particularly enjoyed during the brief two years she served in that capacity.
Selected as a member of the California Province Leadership Team, Sr. Patti served her Sisters with love and a caring heart for six years.
Following that, Sr. Patti was named Director of Villa Maria del Mar Retreat Center in Santa Cruz, where she continues to thrive in her 12th year in the ministry of hospitality. Sr. Patti’s gifts in administration as well as her cheerful, positive, warm spirit give special life to this ministry of hospitality.
